It all started with an email. An email telling me that I had been successful in my interview, I was so excited I could have cried, but at the same time I knew I had a challenge ahead. I would be representing Torfaen as a Miss Wales 2016 finalist and I was definitely planning on making the most of this opportunity. Miss Wales is about empowering young women and making them feel more confident in themselves. I can honestly say taking part in this experience has definitely done that for me. I have achieved so many of the goals I have set. I never thought I would be capable of organizing such an important event such as my fundraising charity night, but it’s shown me with a lot of hard work and determination anything is possible. The night went amazingly well and we raised well above the amount for our charity Beauty With a Purpose than I initially thought we would. I was so overwhelmed and thankful for the turn out, it could not have been possible if it wasn’t for the generous donations and all of the people that showed up and gave me their support. Although it has been hard work at times the fun I have had with the other Miss Wales finalists has made it all worthwhile, It has been a pleasure meeting all these beautiful girls, all like-minded but different in our own ways. The days out we have experienced together such as ice skating in winter wonder land, going for meals at Giovanni’s lovely Italian restaurant and attending Scrum V has been amazing and something I will always cherish. I also completed my sponsored walk to the top of Pen-y-Fan mountain along with friends and work colleagues, It was very cold and windy but I enjoyed every second of it. Throughout my journey I have learnt new things about myself and one of them is I do not like to give up. I will always try to do the best of my ability to overcome challenges especially when working towards a good cause. As a full time student and working three jobs this whole experience has been a breath of fresh air from my everyday life. We have just days left and I’m very excited about the last three days of the Miss Wales final. No matter what happens the whole experience has been a winning one for me and I’m truly grateful to have come so far. I do not want this journey to come to an end.
