Miss Wales is all about empowering young women, building confidence, and generating funds for great causes through the Miss World charity, Beauty with a Purpose. I am delighted to have been chosen as a 2018 finalist and am most grateful for the opportunities I have been presented with, boosting my self-confidence and driving me to be the best I can be.

Throughout the competition I have had the opportunity to attend various events, meet inspiring young women, making life-long friendships and memories I will forever cherish.

I have been involved with Cardiff Fashion week, participated in a self-defence class, attended a red-carpet film premiere, a charity lunch alongside Simon Weston and spoken on my local radio station sharing my Miss Wales experience and encouraging others. Being an active member of the community, I visited the Ebbw Vale Owl Sanctuary where I was touched by the wonderful work the volunteers do, and I am currently involved in the new community fitness centre in my hometown, promoting health and wellbeing.

I have been sponsored by Notemachine, who I also have the pleasure of working for and in return have promoted one of their Eurochange branches in Cardiff as a Miss Wales finalist. It truly has been a fantastic experience creating opportunities that may not have otherwise been possible!

A main focus on my journey has been raising money for the charity, Beauty with a Purpose. Living on the edge of the Brecon beacons I decided to make the most of my surroundings by organising sponsored walks throughout some of Wales’ highest peaks. A highlight was successfully completing Pen-y-Fan, south wales’ highest peak, and also a sponsored team walk with Katie Burchell who is also representing Blaenau Gwent this year in the finals. Additionally, I arranged a valentine’s themed cake sale in my workplace and an Easter themed raffle, collectively raising over £1,000 for charity. I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in all aspects of the competition, working hard and getting others involved in the process all whilst enjoying making a difference.

The entire Miss Wales journey has been extremely rewarding from start to end, allowing me to focus on self-development, whilst remaining a positive role model and encouraging and supporting other young women. An experience that I am lucky to have shared with a sisterhood of like-minded girls, that has developed me into the strong, confident woman I am today and an experience for which I am most thankful for
