From the minute I was crowned Miss Wales on the 26th of April I have been overwhelmed by the support I have received and I have been having some wonderful experiences. Before the pleasure of winning Miss Wales had sunk in I had my first interview and photo call with the South Wales Echo and the Western Mail the following morning! I enjoyed every minute of it and I was happy with the outcome!
On the 4th of May I made my first appearance as Miss Wales at the ‘Unique Boutique wardrobe sale’ at the Mercure Hotel where I modelled a gorgeous Tempest dressed and closed the Tempest Fashion show. Following this, as I am a Molecular Biology student at Cardiff University I had a photo call and was interviewed by Cardiff University Media that was published in Bioscience Media magazines across various Universities in the UK. Subsequently, I was thrilled to be approached for a photo call and interview with the Daily Mail that appeared online on the 9th of May.
My first month as Miss Wales was very exciting and overwhelming, however due to University exams I had to hit the books for the last few weeks of May!
After a tough couple of weeks taking University exams, I was happy to be very busy throughout June with various shoots and appearances! During the first week of June, another Miss Wales contestant and I were approached to do a shoot for Elf Cosmetics. I had a great day shooting and went away with lots of Elf Cosmetics goodies!
On the 4th of June, I had a photo shoot to help promote the HHSS Open Day to encourage more young people to choose a career in heritage horticulture
The following Thursday I shot the A/W collection for Miss Wales sponsors, Tempest, that are providing me with the most amazing dresses during my reign. I thoroughly enjoyed modelling their beautiful dresses and was very happy with the images that will go on to appear on the official Tempest website and A/W collection look book. I later attended the Tempest A/W collection fashion show and dinner. It was a wonderful evening, and it was lovely to see some of the Miss Wales 2014 contestants modelling in the Tempest fashion show!
My next appearance as Miss Wales came on July 13th where I was asked to attend and present an award at the Hair and Beauty awards 2014 presented by Fake Bake.
As an ambassador for Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, I also helped out at the Bobath Summer fete where I met Jonathon Evans, MP of Cardiff North and the Bobath Garden party where I met the Margaret Jones, the Lord Mayor of Cardiff.
To finish off another exciting couple of months as Miss Wales I launched the ‘Miss Wales Wedge Walk’ to raise money for the Miss World charity, Beauty with a Purpose. In the glamorous style of the pageant, I will be asking all walkers – even men – to wear wedge heels for a 3.3 mile walk around Cardiff which will take place on Sunday 27 September.
It has been another busy, yet very exciting couple of months and I am looking forward to what August has to offer!
