Finalists raise a pretty sum for charity
Vibe’s annual charity fundraiser – the
Miss Wales competition – has blown the lid off previous
years’ fundraising efforts.
The event – culminating in the grand final in July–
raised in excess of £55,000 for The Joshua Foundation
which is a charity for children with terminal cancer. For Paula
Abbandonato, director of Vibe which organises the event, the
result was way beyond what she had hoped for. Paula said:
“It’s fantastic. Next year, we’ll do even
better.”
The 40 finalists of Miss Wales 2007 were tasked with raising
as much money as possible in their three month run up to the
final. A number of businesses, including George Wimpey, supported
the women’s efforts by match-funding some of the fundraisers.
The winner of Miss Wales 2007 was Kelly Pesticcio, a 23 year
old medical student from Cardiff.
